This summer while vacationing in the British Virgin Islands I had the pleasure of being introduced to this cocktail. It has become my preferred libation on hot afternoons of late. The refreshing taste of ginger beer and the strong rum flavor will surely take me through fall months as well, I seriously like this drink!
Here is Wikipedia’s description: A Dark and Stormy (or Dark ‘n’ Stormy) is an alcoholic highball style cocktail popular in many British Commonwealth countries, such as Bermuda and Australia. It consists of dark rum and ginger beer over ice. It is optionally accompanied by a slice of lime.
We brought back the local popular rum known as Pusser’s Rum. For more than three centuries Great Britain’s Navy issued a daily rum ration to its sailors. Pusser’s it is said! The bottle claims that a substantial donation from the sale of each bottle of Pusser’s is made to the Royal Navy Sailor’s Fund, the largest source of outside income to that endowment. It is however, made in the West Indies. You can find Pusser’s in some liquor stores here in the U.S. I’ve purchased several bottles since our return from the BVI’s.
There are many ideas on how to mix this drink but the ingredients are: Dark Rum, Ginger Beer and lime is optional. I like it with lime. Below I’ve listed several “recipes”, you should try each and find the one that suits your taste.

Enjoy!
