2013 has arrived and brought with it a big change for me. You may or may not have noticed my absence lately. I have felt it daily, my absence. I’ve not blogged once in this new month and I’ve missed it terribly. I have particularly missed the cooking and eating part of writing a food blog. Do you remember back in the fall I began to do some work with Enjoy! a local gourmet food and kitchen store? What started out as an occasional catering gig to help out with their “Enjoy Nights” events has turned into a full-time position as manager of the store. Overnight I went from taking on sporadic foodie jobs to a 5 day a week foodie situation. This all came about very quickly and unexpectedly and I remain in somewhat of a fog about it.
I jumped in with both feet January 2 and worked the store for 4 days before heading off to Atlanta for the food and housewares market. I spent 6 entire days shopping the mart and boy did I get a taste, literally, of what is to come. Hundreds of vendors pushing their wares, urging buyers to taste samples of dips, breads, herbs, oils, teas, salsas, salts, candies, dressings, jams and jellies. The list is endless and I tasted just about all of them. There were numerous showrooms selling serving pieces, tea pots, utensils, kitchen towels, glassware, linens, bakeware, trivets, canisters, napkin rings, and the cutest little creamers I’ve ever seen. We bought cows, elephants, bunnies and bottles big and small for serving milk with your coffee. It was a brilliant way for me to immerse myself in the store and what is to come. Thanks to my new boss for having me tag along.
I returned home last night anxious to share my new adventure with you. The reality is I won’t be able to blog multiple times each week, but my goal is to visit with you at least once a week sharing recipes and bee adventures. I’ll be diving headfirst into my kitchen this weekend. With the winter weather we’re experiencing I’m hankering for the smell of fresh-baked bread filling my kitchen. I may even decide to bake several loaves and I’d love to try some of your recipes, so leave me a comment and link me up to your favorite bread recipe!
Enjoy!
Part of me is sad because you won’t post often, but it’s for a wonderful reason! So be it! I will be paying attention and following your new adventure!
best of luck!
Sally your words are kind and uplifting – thank you. Once I get in the groove hopefully I’ll post more often again!
Congrats on your new venture! Sounds like a perfect match for you! <3
Thank you ! It is so much fun – you need to stop by!
Congratulations. They are lucky to have you!
Thank you Donna !
Great to have you back!!!
Oh – thank you! It’s nice to know I may have been missed.
I think you will enjoy your new adventure. I’ve been to the food shows when I had a chocolate and gift shop in Florida. ..great fun.
Karen – you remind me of myself – you’ve been on and done a variety of adventures in your life! The food show was a blast – I learned on day one to take only the smallest sample of all those offerings.
Yes and try not to mix sweet and savory too many times or your stomach will regret it at the end of the day. 🙂
Congratulations… Nice to see someone in a job they clearly love and which was a good fit!
Yes, everyone should be able to love their job and look forward to going to work every day. Thanks for your kind words!
Sounds like a lot of fun though!
Yeah it is – but we don’t carry tequila!
How exciting – I’m a great believer in destiny and sometimes when unexpected things happen you just have to grab them with both hands
You got that right! This job fell into my lap – I’ve grabbed it by the horns…if nothing else it’ll be a good way to save money for my daughters wedding! Nice to see you visiting The Orange Bee!
wow! how exciting make me jealous!! congrats!
Thank you – I am having a blast. You should come out some Saturday – we’ve got all kinds of goodies!
