I am excited to be bringing you this review on Pacific Beach Peanut Butter. A few weeks ago I received an email from the folks at PB-PB inquiring if I would be interested in trying their organic peanut butter and writing a blog post about it. In exchange for a review they would send me three jars to taste. Sounded like a pretty good deal to me; free peanut butter, organic and natural, in exchange for a post on this here blog. Done!
I could choose two flavors of their PB spreads and the third would be the basic organic peanut butter. With 8 spreads to choose from I selected “touch of caramel” and “chocolate”. They arrived as promised in cleanly labeled octagonal shaped jars. My only complaint is that trying to read the ingredients and nutritional info printed on the side of the jar is a challenge. Small white type on a clear jar, difficult for some of us! It does make for a clean appearance, however if I wanted to read this info before purchasing the PB I would need my glasses, good lighting and maybe a magnifier.
Now on to the important stuff. Each of the three jars smell fresh and nutty, with a fluffy appearance. No oils floating on top that need to be stirred in before eating. I like that! With each bite there are tiny bits of peanuts which I like as I enjoy crunchy peanut butter. The basic organic peanut butter has a clean and fresh flavor, like peanut butter should taste. Zero grams of sugar and low sodium count. Touch of Caramel is a bit sweeter with 6 grams of sugar in 2 tablespoons. The caramel flavor isn’t apparent when you first lick the fluffy spread off of a spoon but comes after you swallow. It is subtle and pleasant. The Chocolate spread is also a subtle taste of pure Belgian chocolate with 7 grams of sugar. Both the Chocolate and Touch of Caramel spreads have the same little bits of peanuts which add a nice crunch.
All in all I like PB-PB. It’s delicious and I really do like the little bits of crunch in all three I tried. If I were purchasing it I would more than likely stick with the basic organic peanut butter. My man Dan eats a spoon full of peanut butter every night and he has enjoyed dipping into my PB-PB as opposed to his standard, I hate to even say the words, Jif Natural. Don’t get me wrong I am enjoying the flavored spreads too, it’s just that I’m more of a basic PB girl.
Now, here’s the great part for you, my readers. The cool people at Pacific Beach-Peanut Butter are offering a free jar with the a purchase of a jar from their website to my readers. Click on the following link to take advantage of this very nice offer: PB-PB Use this code for your free jar: Reader Code valid through May 16, 2013- blogger4. You can also check out their FB page here. I’m all about keeping small business in business so go visit and give them a try. If you live in the southern California area I believe you can find them at the Hillcrest Farmers Market and I bet they’ll give you a spoon and a taste. You just might be hooked.
Enjoy!

My husband is a very picky peanut butter eater. I don’t eat it, just cook with it… Can I ask you if there are other ingredients apart from peanuts in their “plain’ PB?
The Orange Bee says
The ingredients lists: Organic Valencia Peanuts, salt.
It’s very good – nothing like the junk we can get at the grocery store like the stuff I said my husband eats…he’s not too picky about his pb but I have gotten him to back off of the ones laden with gobs of sugar. Maybe your husband would enjoy the Pacific Beach PB – give it a try and get a free jar!

Hi Linda! Thanks for featuring this. I’ve been searching for a great organic PB for a couple of years. I read their story – very cool. I placed an order for the plain PB (I’m a plain PB gal too!) and can’t wait to try it.

Yea!!! It’s yummy – this is a first for me to review for a food product. I enjoyed it – free products are great.
