Last summer I posted a story about the Mt. Gainor Inn, a B&B in Dripping Springs, Texas. You can read it here: http://74.220.215.203/~theoran3. If you have not yet visited I strongly encourage you to do so. With fall upon us the Texas hill country is a beautiful, peaceful place to kick back and unwind for a couple of days.
Since my visit last summer the owners have made some brilliant changes. They’ve added a commercial kitchen, a dining room and two new bedroom suites. The place has not lost its charm. Nell is still the resident cat and some days Lulabelle
a big yellow lab comes around to see who’s checked in. Regrettably she didn’t stay around long enough for a photo session. An abundance of flowering plants remain crowded with butterflies and guess what else? Bees!
Laurie’s breakfasts are still delicious and served at a time of your choosing. Orange-Tarragon French Toast was a treat on our first morning and the next day she cranked out a heavenly, cheesy breakfast strudel. The coffee is fresh and hot and it’s served in a bottomless mug!
The sunrise and sunset are both beautiful. Late nights or early mornings you’re sure to relax in a hammock or the hot tub, kick around the place taking in the fresh air and views, or enjoy some lively conversation with the owners, Laurie and Jerry.
There’s no shortage of places to visit and Mt. Gainor proves to be a central spot where you can comfortably hang your hat. Local wineries, olive vineyards, antique shops, ice-cold rivers, scenic drives, there is something for everyone, young and old. Plan a fall weekend get away and pay a visit to Mt. Gainor. Oh! and tell ’em The Orange Bee sent ya’.
