I am not one to share my food, especially if it is sweet. Well, truthfully I don’t like to share my food ever! Not sure why. You know when you go to a restaurant and everyone orders differently, offering others a taste of what they ordered?

April, A Sweet Month
This year is breezing by faster than I care for it to. Looking back over 2012 and the beginning of my second year writing The Orange Bee blog I see that I’ve definitely had a theme for each month. I’ll carry on with a theme in April and as far into the future as possible. One of the elements in blogging is the challenge of what to write about or in the case of a food blog, what recipe to share. (more…)

Tornado Time In Texas
I am so incredibly thankful to have a roof over my head and the Orange Bee kitchen today, words can not describe it. Most of you probably heard about the tornadoes that blasted through north Texas yesterday leaving a trail of devastation in their wake. One of those tornadoes came through my community about one mile from my home. (more…)

Yep, It’s Monday
I had plans to bake and bring you some delicious, sweet little recipe today….It wasn’t meant to be! The water heater flooded my laundry room and storage closet this morning, which forced me to shut off the water to the entire house, until I could crank the knob on the dad gum thing to off. (more…)

March blew by in a hurry. Spring is in full force in North Texas, where I reside. Wind, rain and weeds abound. It seems yard work has taken over in the few free moments I can find. I couldn’t, however let March and “green month” end without one final post. (more…)

Avocado-Buttermilk Dressing
If you’ve been following my blog you might have noticed that bottled salad dressing is not my favorite. I’ll take oil and vinegar over bottled dressing any day. It’s such a simple affair to whip up one’s own dressing and the rewards are terrific. Well worth the effort.
This is one of those recipes I came up with when the avocados looked good and were priced right. I found myself with a bowl full on the kitchen counter . (more…)

A Little Sweet Treat
Home sweet home! Miss T and I had a great time away from home but it is always sweet to come home. We had some fantastic “girl” time while down in Austin. Austin is a beautiful town, vibrant, busy, and earthy. This past weekend the music festival SXSW, which stands for south by southwest, was in full force. (more…)

Spring Break
Spring Break! It’s half over. UGH! That went waaaaay too fast. I’ll be taking a short break from blogging for the next few days. If you too are on spring break I hope you are making the most of it and having a ball at whatever you are doing. Miss T and I will be traveling down to the hill country of Texas, a glorious place, to hang with LuLu for a few days. I have however been busy in the kitchen leading up to our excursion and when we return I will be posting two superb recipes for you to enjoy. Avocado Buttermilk Dressing and Chocolate Zucchini Muffins. I hope to see you visiting again next week. I plan on fully enjoying my time with my girls.
Stay green!

So avocado is green, right? Right! Mango does not come from anywhere near where I live but I went for it anyway, as they looked unblemished, plump and juicy! Today’s post of Avocado & Mango Salad is a delicious way to get into the mood for spring. (more…)

Uncle Ray’s Green Chili
Just when you think warm weather is here to stay old man winter blows through and reminds us that winter isn’t quite over. Chilly temps, outrageous winds, rain and grey skies played perfectly into my hand for “going green” month. (more…)
